Kenny Chesney To "The Tonight Show"
ACM and CMA Entertainer of the Year To Appear June 23 on "Leno"
Burbank, CA/Nashville, TN: With his sold-out Somewhere In The Sun
Tour back underway -- with two nights in Columbus, Ohio starting tomorrow night
-- and his brand new Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year trophy
safely ensconced on his mantle back home, Kenny Chesney returns to the reality
of being Kenny Chesney. In addition to his upcoming stadium show at Washington,
DC's Fed Ex Field, the high energy performer will take time out of his West
Coast run to perform on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on June 23.
"It's funny how when you fall into groove with some of these shows,
it's almost like a regular tour stop," says the man who just enjoyed his third
multiple week #1 "Anything But Mine" from his nearly quadruple-platinum CMA
Album of the Year When The Sun Goes Down. "You know, 'The Tonight Show' is one
of those things that comes into everybody's living room, tour bus, wherever...
and then suddenly, it's just like playing Pittsburgh or Biloxi, you get to the
venue, you know the faces, everybody's happy to see you -- and you can't imagine
hitting that part of the country and NOT playing there.
"It's not necessarily about us, but it's about how well everybody
gets along. And the folks at 'The Tonight Show' are always just so nice to us...
So if we're heading West, obviously, we always wanna do Jay Leno."
With spreads in the June/July issue of Details and In Style,
Chesney's reaching people in bigger ways than ever... and his June 4 concert at
DC's Fed Ex Field -- where the Washington Redskins play -- is a precursor to his
other major stadium shows -- July 23 in Boston and July 30 in Pittsburgh. Having
set records in several major markets -- including an unprecedented 3rd night
added in Atlanta -- Somewhere in the Sun appears to be the place everybody longs
to be this summer, and Kenny Chesney's ready when they are. And if you're not
one of the lucky ones who're holding tickets to this summer's hottest tour, you
can still dial into "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on June 23 and have the
Entertainer of the Year in your very own home.
